Who say's complaining doesn't work?

This year my apartment building recently got bought by a new management company and we are going condo. Well the managment company who has been waiting for final state approval started doing some renovations and basically left our building a complete mess for the past 3 months. I got so feed up that last week I wrote a letter to those bastards. My letter was as follows:

Philo Management Company
520 Westfield Ave
Elizabeth, NJ 07208-1658

To Whom It May Concern:
I currently reside at XXX XAvenue Apartment XX , Belmar NJ. As a tenant I have several complaints. First the lack of communication received from your management office is appalling. My lease was up mid-November and I never received any communication stating if I need to sign a new lease. After speaking with several other tenants, some of whom have called your office, I was told that we are now on a month to month lease. I am fine with this arrangement; however receiving a written communication would have been appropriate.
My second complaint is on the unsafe living conditions and the horrible state that this apartment building has been in since you began renovating approximately 5 months ago. I would not mind living here during renovations if the renovations were being performed within a timely fashion and we were communicated to in writing on when and what improvements were being made. But that is not the case; the appearance of these buildings is disgusting. I understand that this is an old building, but when Harding Estates was the management company it was always kept neat and clean. When I found out about the condo conversion I was considering buying my unit, but if this poor performance is any indication of the quality and timeliness of the conversion process I am not interested.
Here are numerous complaints from myself and other tenants:
· There is dirt, plaster, and nails all over the hallways.
· There are two vacuums on my floor that have been there for over a month
· The front light is consistently out in front of building 205 when I come home late at night.
· The doors are left wide open by the workers.
· A refrigerator has been on the 3rd floor hallway of building 201 for two months.
· A vendor came and put in railings on the stairs and they ripped up the rug and runners and left them. This is a hazard, someone could easily trip.
· The front door of building 201 was broke and the mailman could not get in to deliver mail for over a week.
· There are holes in the walls from the electrician.
· There was a sewage leak on the basement floor of building 201 from the drainage not being properly maintained.
It seems that you may be forgetting that people still live in these buildings and are still paying rent. I have attached pictures taken over the last week so that you can see for yourself the conditions of these two buildings. If these conditions do not improve within the next few weeks I will have no choice other then to contact the Belmar Code Enforcement Department and we will start to withhold rent in a rent strike.

Sincerely,

XXXXXX

This letter was sent certified mail to Philo Management company last week, and starting last Thursday and Friday there were workers here cleaning this place up! Today when I came home it was an even bigger improvement, the rugs were trimmed, there is a new door in the front and rear of the building and the intercom system is getting moved outside!!!! I am so excited, this is proof that when something is bothering you - COMPLAIN!
