Christmas has come and gone...

It is hard to believe that Christmas has come and gone already. Christmas was good I love to exchange presents with my family. It is a pleasure to get the people you care about something special. I know that sounds cheesy, but it's the way I feel. My cousins loved the Will Work For Pie T-shirts, too so that was nice. Michael said it is his new bar shirt....lol
It goes so quick and now the year 2006 is upon us. I'm already planning my goals for the new year. No resolutions, but goals!

Swinging…its legal in Canada!

CTV.ca News Staff Updated: Wed. Dec. 21 2005 11:32 PM ET
Canada's top court says clubs that feature group sex and partner-swapping are perfectly legal.
In its 7-2 decision released Wednesday, the Supreme Court of Canada said, because consensual sexual activity in a private club poses no threat to society, it shouldn't be considered criminal.
The ruling sets a single standard, after lower courts went in opposite directions on two similar cases involving a pair of so-called 'swinger clubs' in Montreal.
In one case, the owner of a singles club was convicted on two counts of keeping a common bawdy house and fined a total of $7,500.
James Kouri's "Coeur a Corps" featured a dance floor around which a black curtain would swing every half hour. People hidden behind the drapery could then take part in or watch sex acts.
In the other case, Jean-Paul Labaye, the owner of the members-only "liberated couples" club L'Orage was also convicted of keeping a bawdy house and fined $2,500.
Members of Labaye's club could enter a locked room where they could participate in or watch any kind of sex act.
"It's a commercial establishment where people reconvene and practice swapping or swinging, even orgy gang-bangs," said Labaye's lawyer, Robert La Haye.
"It does not contaminate society. It does not hurt, it does not do any harm to society and to the public in general."
While Kouri's conviction was overturned by the Quebec court of appeal, Labaye's was upheld. Because a judge dissented in each of those decisions, they both wound up in front of the Supreme Court.
Under the Criminal Code, a "bawdy house" is defined as a place used or frequented for prostitution or "for the purpose of acts of indecency."
Because there was no money paid for the sex acts at the heart of the two cases, the prostitution issue was moot -- leaving the case to be decided in terms of indecency.
The definition of indecency is typically measured against what ordinary Canadians will tolerate.
But in their ruling Wednesday, the Supreme Court judges said the test for indecency should not simply be whether an activity violates a "social consensus" of community standards, but the actual harm it causes.
"Consensual conduct behind code-locked doors can hardly be supposed to jeopardize a society as vigorous and tolerant as Canadian society," Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin wrote in the majority decision.
Brian Rushfeldt, Executive Director of the Canada Family Action Coalition, said Wednesday's ruling should become an election issue.
"I'd like to hear politicians address the fact that we have a Supreme Court, seven judges, literally imposing a whole new moral standard on all Canadians while we've got politicians out there talking about whether they should use a notwithstanding clause," Rushfeldt said.
"Perhaps this is a case where the notwithstanding clause should be imposed to let politicians or parliament make some decision on this because it affects every Canadian, not just the swingers.
Laurie Arron, the Advocacy Director for EGALE a gay rights group, disagreed with Rushfeldt's interpretation of the Supreme Court's decision. Arron said the ruling was not a charter case that struck down a law.
"All they've done is interpret the meaning of indecency and that's something that's never been defined in the criminal code."

Looking for a match should not be this hard

OK so I have been a subscriber to match.com for about 5 months now. Unfortunately I have not taken the process any further then emails. I keep making the excuse that I am busy, it is a lot of work to find love online. Frankly the old fashioned traditional way of meeting someone out somewhere or through friends is actually what I prefer. Maybe that is a cop out and maybe I will be single for the rest of my life who knows, alls I do know is I can't make the time to meet someone online right now.
Oh and BTW- guys on the east coast are totally short. Now I am not that tall, I'm 5'4, but come on.... For instance I decided just for fun I was going to search for men under 5'9. I got 390 searches within a 20 mile radius.... Which is a lot more then those available over 5'11....Weird....But whatever this is Jersey.

Tomorrow marks a day in history for radio...

Tomorrow will be a day that they write about in the radio history books one day. Why you ask? Howard Stern is leaving free radio....some of you may not care, but I do.
I am a Howard Stern fan not everyone knows this, but I am. I have been listening to him for about 7 years. I will miss him every morning as I drive to work. He makes me laugh, he does the best celebrity interviews, and hopefully he will do for Sirius what he has done for his book, his movie, his tv show, his radio show...made it number one....this would especially be nice since I have a little bit of stock in that company :) But as of right now I will not be buying a Sirius receive I would like one, but I am going to hold out and see if I can live without Howard in the morning....

GOOD LUCK HOWARD we will miss you!

The religious right does it again

Christian conservatives wage war to put religion back into Christmas...
This time they seem to be getting all bent out of shape because President Bush is sending out a generic “Happy Holiday’s” card instead of the traditional “Merry Christmas”. Now being as the president is supposedly a born again Christian they feel he is not supporting the true meaning of Christmas with his generic card.
Man, do these freaks have nothing better to do? Why is it that the religious right who are supposed to love everyone and not be judgmental are the biggest hypocrites of all. Why can’t they lead by example and show society what the true meaning of Christmas is in an encouraging way instead of bitching and complaining and threatening to boycott Target, Macy’s, :Land’s End, and all the stores that have “Holiday” sales instead of Christmas sales. In fact is it not true that the true meaning of Christmas is not about gifts and the retail shopping experience but celebrating the birth of Jesus? So why the big stink about “CHRISTMAS” retail Sales?
This year Hanukah and Kwanzaa begin the day after Christmas. Don’t other faith’s have the right to shop for their holidays? How would Christian’s feel if they went to the mall and Macy’s was having a Hanukah Storewide blowout? I think they would be offended. I am not a religious person, but I consider myself to be Christian and I would feel like I should not be taking advantage of the Kwanzaa sale.
I give up! Maybe we should just all start sending Chrismakazaa Cards out and all will be fine.

As one marriage ends another reconciles...

As Nick and Jessica go their separate ways another celebrity is getting back together with his ex:

Eminem Says He's Back With Ex-Wife - Rap superstar Eminem told a radio show Tuesday that he is back together with his ex-wife and may remarry. Eminem went through an ugly divorce and custody battle over his young daughter with Kimberly Mathers. They married in 1999, and their divorce was finalized in 2001.
"We have reconciled and are probably going to remarry," Eminem told Detroit radio station WKQI-FM's "Mojo in the Morning" show.
During the interview, he referred to Kimberly Mathers, 30, as "my wife Kim."
Eminem's label Interscope Records said the interview was the only one that Eminem had planned for now. The rapper's greatest-hits album titled "Curtain Call" was released Tuesday.
Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, also discussed his stay earlier this year at a hospital to undergo treatment for sleep medication dependency. Word of the hospitalization came in August after he canceled his European tour.
"When I went into rehab, I kind of went into it ... with the notion of 'I'm gonna get clean, I'm gonna get off this stuff before it gets too out of hand,'" he said.
In July, Eminem denied an impending retirement but hinted at taking a breather. On Tuesday, the 33-year-old, who lives in suburban Detroit, spoke more about his uncertain future.
"I'm at a point in my life right now where I feel like I don't know where my career is going," he said. "This is the reason that we called it 'Curtain Call,' because this could be the final thing. We don't know."
___

All's I can say is WOW. They must really be crazy for each other to be considering re-marriage after all that they have been through.

Let it snow...no...no...no...

When I was a kid I loved snow days. It usually meant a day off from school where you would get bundled up and play in the snow and then come in and have some hot chocolate with marshmallows and watch movies. Now a days I dread the snow. I hate it, it is more of a pain in the ass then anything else. I hate getting all bundled up, I hate cleaning off my car, I hate to shovel snow, I hate driving in it, I hate everything about it...Unless it is going to be a blizzard where I don't have to leave my house I don't want any. I wish I could get excited about snow again, I don't even care about a white Christmas. It only looks pretty for about 20 minutes until it gets all grey and icky! Man and it is only December :) I need to do something to get happy about winter quick!

Is it Christmas Already?

I know it is December 4th already, but I have a hard time thinking about Christmas Shopping already. I went to the mall today and wandered around looking in store to store with no idea of what to get anyone and yet the millions of other people at the mall seem to have no problem finding things to buy. Are they really buying Christmas presents that are thoughtful and exactly what the recipient needs and/or wants or are they just shopping to shop? My bet is they are just shopping to shop, I mean how many people already know exactly what they are getting everyone? What ever happened till waiting till the last minute? I need to be in the spirit to shop and I guess I am just not there yet. Anyway tomorrow I will start shopping online, that is the way to go. You can shop in your PJs from the comfort of your own home.

It’s Official I am a Blog Addict

Out of no where I have become obsessed with blogs.
I recently created this blog
Alison’s Chaotic Chit Chat and I read other people’s random blogs, and I have begun to harass my family and friends to create blogs. What is wrong with me? Is there a treatment for this- Bloggers Anonymous anyone?

Another TV Disappointment

Ok what is up with The OC, I used to be a huge fan of this show. Season 1 was fabulous! But Season 2 and 3 are disappointing, they fill you up with hope that something dramatic will happen with the upcoming scenes and then that very episode that you could not wait to see lets you down.
What happened to Marissa's substance abuse problems? Where is Ryan's illegitimate child with Theresa? How come they have no other friends? As I recall in Season 1 Marissa and Summer were quite popular, what the hell happened? And WHAT IS UP, with Marissa's new friends at her "public" school? They are a poor generic version of Ryan and Seth. I don't care about them at all....Does anyone else?
I'm longing for the days of Beverly Hills 90210. Those writers knew what people wanted to watch. They dealt with everything from substance abuse, date rape, teenage pregnancy, STD's, abusive relationships, it was great!
I'm going to start writing my own television show, hey you never know with this new pod-casting technology I would probably even get some viewers on the web.....hmmmm...food for thought!
